Dr. Patrick Zuber
Dr. Zuber is currently the focal point for vaccine introduction in the Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals at WHO's headquarters. He is responsible for liaising with WHO Regional Offices and partners on decision-making for new vaccine introduction. He also represents WHO on the GAVI Working Group where he has been appointed since August 2004.
Since 1990, Dr. Zuber has been involved with vaccine preventable and other communicable diseases prevention. He has worked in various capacities within national and international agencies. Prior to joining the WHO headquarters he was involved with poliomyelitis and measles control strategies, first in Burkina Faso and then as the Team Leader of CDC's Field Activities Support in the National Immunization Program. He has written extensively and lectured on a variety of topics concerning epidemiology of various infectious diseases.
Dr. Zuber graduated with a Medical Degree from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He completed his public health training at the Harvard School of Public Health and at CDC where he enrolled with the Epidemic Intelligence Service training as well as with the Preventive Medicine Residency program. He is fully proficient in French and English.
