Melissa L. Hemmen, MPH
Melissa L. Hemmen, MPH, is a laboratory training and communication specialist with the Meningitis and Vaccine Preventable Diseases Branch at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Master's degree in public health epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and her Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. She currently works with the Hib Initiative to provide laboratory training support for the introduction of Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib) vaccine worldwide. Her previous research interests are in the fields of infectious disease epidemiology, adolescent health, and orphans and vulnerable children of Eastern Europe. She speaks Russian, Ukrainian, French, and English.
